Gemfire’s US Benefits Include: Health Savings Account With the steady rise in insurance costs Gemfire is now offering a Health Savings Account. A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-advantaged medical savings account available to employees who are enrolled in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). The funds contributed by Gemfire and the employee to the HSA are not subject to Federal income tax at the time of deposit. Funds may be used to pay for qualified medical, dental or vision expenses at any time without tax liability. Withdrawals for non-medical expenses are subject to a 10% penalty and normal income taxes. The HSA can also be used to supplement retirement income. After age 65 distributions can be made for non-medical reasons without the 10% penalty. 401(k) Gemfire employees can prepare for retirement by investing in our 401 (k) qualified retirement plan. Our well-rounded portfolio offers appropriate funds for both the conservative and the adventurous investor. Paid Time Off In the unique culture of Silicon Valley, Gemfire has recognized the need for flexible employee benefits to be tailored to a diverse workforce. One manifestation of this is our generous Paid Time Off policy, which provides each employee with a bank of hours to be used for vacation, holidays, sick days or personal days. These PTO hours can be used at the employee's discretion and roll over from one year to the next. Gemfire employees accrue 28 days PTO their first year, 30 days PTO their second year, and one additional day each year after that, up to 35 days PTO annually. | |||||
